Instagram Has Huge Potential As A Marketing Tool

Instagram is my biggest lead generator! So many of my clients find me through there, and I love the sense of community and inspiration I get from it. It’s an amazing free resource to market yourself, especially as a service based business.

I See People Making The Same Mistakes

That said, I see people making a few key mistakes over and over. With just a few tweaks they could create a stronger message and identity. This draws clients to you when they know who you are and what you do. You need to explain who you are, what you do, and who you do it for. This needs to be explained pretty quickly, otherwise, people will lose interest. They need a reason to follow you and need to know what they can expect when they do.

Instagram is A Visual Platform

Instagram is a visual platform. You need to have strong images! You don’t need to always hire a professional (although this does help!). Learn the basics of photography to help you get better content. There are so many videos on Youtube that can help with this! You can also get free stock images online. I would definitely encourage you to learn the basics of getting good photos, even if it’s just on a phone! Phone cameras these days are so great. You can get amazing photos if you understand light and composition!

Focus On Adding Value

Don’t make every post a sales pitch! This turns off followers because no one likes being constantly sold to. Focus on how you can serve your followers, and educate them. The 80/20 rule is a good one to follow. Serve interesting content 80% of the time, and only pitch 20% of the time. Allow people to naturally sell themselves on you. Keep explaining the benefits of working with you, and how you will help them become a better version of themselves!
